When progress looks different, here’s why!

Join me as I share real stories of progress, hope, and connection...

Hey family, this is Michael, back again with a Tuesday message.

A vulnerable moment to share with you today

Parenting a child with a diagnosis is a path filled with unknowns, uncertainties, and unexpected milestones. It’s a journey where progress doesn’t always look like what others expect, and sometimes it doesn’t even look like what we expect.

It’s not about hitting goals on a strict timeline or checking off boxes. Instead, it’s about celebrating every little victory, every new sound, word, or gesture that tells us our children are growing and expressing themselves in their own unique ways.

For a long time, when we asked Christian how he was feeling, his response was “Kung Fu Panda.” Now, you might think that’s not answering the question, and in a way, it wasn’t, but for us, it was a huge milestone.

It wasn’t about comprehension at that moment; it was about him speaking something. That moment, hearing his voice, was a blessing. It showed us progress, even if it didn’t fit the traditional mold.

Amanda, on the other hand, has her own speech challenges, and every new word she tries to say, even when it’s out of context or sounds different, is a pure blessing to us.

Those words carry the weight of her effort and her growth. For us, these moments aren’t just about communication; they’re about connection and hope.

It’s easy to get caught up in comparing milestones or rushing to the next big achievement, especially in a world full of expectations. But the truth is, each family’s path is unique.

Every tiny step forward, no matter how small or unconventional, deserves to be recognized and celebrated.

So today, let’s embrace the unknowns. Let’s find joy in those unexpected “Kung Fu Panda” moments and every little breakthrough along the way.

Let’s remember that this journey isn’t just about outcomes, it’s about love, patience, and honoring them exactly as they are.

You’re not alone in this. We’re all walking this path together, learning to celebrate progress in all its forms.

P.S. If you ever feel like sharing your own milestones or those unexpected “Kung Fu Panda” moments, I’d love to hear about them. We’re all in this together.
