Stewardship in Parenthood....

Why your efforts matter more than you think

Hey family, it’s Michael, back again with a Tuesday message.

I was scrolling through social media on Saturday when a quote stopped me: “To whom much is given, much will be required.” Basically, Stewardship.

At first, it seemed simple, but then it hit me in a deeper way. As parents, especially those raising children with unique needs, it’s easy to feel like we’re just going through the motions.

But this quote (Luke 12:48) reminded me that we’re entrusted with something much more significant than we often recognize.

So many days, it’s hard to see the full picture. The quiet acts of care, patience, and love, even when we’re exhausted, often seem small in the chaos, but they are the foundation for our children’s future.

Here’s a picture of Amanda sitting quietly in the doctor’s office. It may seem simple, but to us, it’s a symbol of her progress. She’s had her own speech challenges, and seeing her engaged and calm like this reminds us of the steady work we’ve put in.

I know it’s hard to see sometimes, especially when you’re tired, and the work feels endless. But even in those quiet moments of consistency, it’s all adding up.

Eli and I didn’t always see the change immediately, but we stayed steady and made adjustments, like avoiding triggers for meltdowns or skipping events to focus on their progress.

It wasn’t the big gestures that made the difference; it was the quiet, consistent work over time. And now, we see how far we’ve come.

Now, we see Christian confidently holding the microphone at a community festival, engaging with the crowd. It’s something we didn’t always know would be possible.

So, if you’re feeling the weight of it all, just know what you’re doing matters. Stay steady, trust that progress is happening, even when it doesn’t feel like it.

The progress may be gradual, but it’s real.
